Panasonic FZ-G1 Tab

January 14, 2013 by Tablet Guru Leave a Comment

Panasonic toughpad windows tablet

With Toughpad FZ-G1, Panasonic decides not to disappoint its Windows loving customers since Panasonic Android tablet were already in the market.  Moreover, HP Envy x2 and Milagrow x11 were posing threat to the Toughpad’s market with their Windows tablets, which made Windows Toughpad’s arrival inevitable. There is not much difference (hardware-wise) between Panasonic Toughpad variants. But both obviously have different OS and hence different intrinsic App repository. The other very visible difference is in the design of the two. This one has a broader screen rather than a longer screen as in the Android version.

OS Windows 8 Pro (64 bit)
Processor 3rd generation Intel Core i5vPro
Display 10.1 inch, ten-point multi touch comes with digitizer, DAY-LIGHT readable
RAM 4-8 GB RAM
Storage 128-256 GB
Connectivity Wi-Fi, 3G/4G support, Bluetooth,
Ports USB 3.0, HDMI, Ethernet, MicroSDXC
Price —

Toughpads easily astonish us their ability to withstand adverse knocks, falls, pouring rain, extreme hot or cold weather. After the 24 years of rigorous and fastidious research work, Pansonic has pulled something of this kind. This tablet is an undisputed champion, when we talk about ruggedness and safety.

HP ENVY X2 (2 in 1) Tab

January 11, 2013 by Tablet Guru Leave a Comment

HP ENVY x2
100% tablet, 100% notebook and 100% both

HP ENVY x2 11-G004TU, a tablet err a notebook or oh wait! It’s a bit confusing. Is it both? The answer is: Yes, HP delivers this new entry in the market trumpeting it as 100% both, tablet and a notebook. The highlight here is the detachable screen off a complete notebook or you can look it as the other way round, one or the same thing. So now if you thing the space around you is too cramped (especially while travelling) spare your notebook and just use the transformed tablet out of it. Since we write about tablets, we would selfishly recommend you to use it more often like a tablet.

Specifications Features
OS Windows 8
Processor 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Processor Z2760
Screen 11.6 inch LED Widescreen
RAM 2GB DDR2
Storage 64 GB SSD
Camera Front- HD webcamBack – 8 MP
Battery 2 cells (one for each)
Price Rs 59365/-

With HP intrinsic features like HP Smart Touch, Beat Audio and HP Cool Sense, this tablet bundles up into a nice buy. With the power of two batteries ie, one in the tablet and other in the notebook, the device promises amazingly more than 19hrs of run.

Indeed it’s an expensive ask for someone looking just for a tablet. But combining all, it is a good deal.                                                             Check the Milagrow X11 tablet which also falls in the same price range slot.

Razor-Edge Tablet, PC Gaming Redefined

January 9, 2013 by Tablet Guru Leave a Comment

Razor Edge Tablet- first gaming tablet
Razor Edge Tablet: A complete replacement for Gaming ancestors.

Razor Edge tablet is a Windows 8 based tab and is first of its kind in the market targeting crazy gamers. Play games like Call Of Duty, Fifa, GTA, Counter-strike all on the move. This awe-inspiring tablet is a sheer class apart stuff and has the edge over all others in the race and hence the name, “EDGE”. Edge Tab is indeed a complete desktop replacement gaming device. We see only Microsoft Windows Tab and HP Envy x2 tablet to give any sort of competition to the Edge, if at all there is any.

Features Specifications
Tablet Regular Pro
OS Windows 8 Windows 8
Processor i5 i7
RAM 4 GB DDR3 8 GB DDR3
Memory 64 GB 128 GB/256 GB
Screen 10.1 inch, 1366×768 resolution 10.1 inch, 1366×768 resolution
Cost $999 Not yet disclosed

The design of the Edge tablet  itself explains the device’s purpose quiet loudly. The attached console gives a very connected feel while playing a game on the tablet. If you want to go for games which demand keyboard/mouse or want to use external consoles for multiplayer or you just want your HDTV to be the screen for you, not an issue here with EDGE. You can perform all these here and many more. The regular version of the tablet runs on Windows 8 with i5 processor and 4 GB DDR3. More Battery life (presumably double) can be brought through optional 40Wh battery addition. Heat dissipation is an issue which thankfully, has been taken care of quite efficiently by the makers.

Accessories and Booking Details:

Costing $999 for a tablet, well looking at specs,  seems to be  fair enough deal, but you can’t use the device in its full swing until you are also buying its expensive accessories say its keyboard and other consoles. This will surmount another $300-$400 on the bill. Sigh! It makes it a one fat piece in the market targeting anything but the masses. If you are getting restless to try your hands on this invention then sorry mate! you got ton wait for a few more days. Further more it will be launched first in the US market and later on into any other country. Find the link below useful where you can book this tablet (only US addresses will be entertained). Book it from here.

Windows 8 RT vs Windows 8

November 16, 2012 by Tablet Guru Leave a Comment

Microsoft has always been the one with one product getting launched with several names, which creates confusion even in the geeks, per se, and this time has been no different. Windows 8 has been launched now a week ago and there are again several versions of it in the market. We are going to bust the different edition of Windows 8 launched this year.

Windows 8 RT

Windows RT

First up, is the Windows 8 RT (or Windows RT). It is a direct competition to Apple’s iPad and other well selling tablets. The screen is greeted with live tiles, which is refreshing way to interact with your devices. Here are the few interesting things about Windows RT:

  1. Just like iOS, the RT comes pre-installed with tablets, you cannot install it by yourself or move to another device.
  2. RT can only be run on ARM based processors and not the ones from Intel and AMD. This means that just like iPads and Android tablets, it is only for light usage and basic tasks. But with Windows RT you can do more than iPad, if you know your way around.
  3. The biggest difference between RT and other versions of Windows 8 is that although RT does have a regular desktop we are all familiar with, it cannot install the  regular executable (.exe) files and neither run them. It just runs apps, like iOS and Android. But this is not a downside! Read to know.
  4. What it makes away with desktop, Microsoft has added their killer app of many years to the RT, the Office suite. You have Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, all at the price of FREE! This was done to make the RT more attractive, functional and a better option than most of the tablets. So now you can straight away start using your tablet without worrying to buy or install apps to actually use your tablet.RT Office Suite
  5. Since it is an ARM based platform, it has got more battery life than other laptops which will run Windows 8.
  6. As mentioned above, RT is directed in the same area of usage as the other tablets are being used, with more and better usability.
  7. The desktop interface here does give you and edge over other tablets. You can tweak the finer settings, access USB drives, attach and use printers, scanners, camera and all other USB devices, just like you did on your Windows PC. A tablet with these many functions, cool, isn’t it? This is the first of it’s kind device which provides you with PC-like productivity.

Windows 8

Okay, that was all about tablets, now a days we are using them more quickly than any other consumer device ever the humanity has ever seen, but what about serious work?

Enter Windows 8, the operating system you all know way too well, but with a twist.

Windows 8 combined all the good things of live tiles with a proper desktop support with application support.

Windows 8 again comes in a plain version of Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. See the comparison chart below to know more.
