How to Flash any Dead Android Phone using PC

Summary: This post is about how to recover the Nokia/MTK Android phone, if it has gone Dead.

                            1- How Phone gets Bricked?

Basically, phone get bricked during the installation of Android OS (flashing).

If flashing is interrupted by low battery or loose cable connection during flashing.

If your android phone has been powered by Mediatek CPU and either you are using wrong firmware or a custom ROM (unstable) to flash your phone, your android mobile will get dead.

 

Result: Phone will not boot even after holding the power key and it will not accept charging.

It will get stuck at logo or will restart every time I.e., Boot loop or Restart loop.

Unable to Shift phone in Recovery mode.

In this situation, Hard Reset will not work.

 

2- Why Phone becomes dead (MTK Android Phone)?

While installing Custom ROM or Stock firmware (unstable), Preloader(.bin) file becomes corrupted.

Preloader is the file in MTK android phone which helps to boot the phone.

 

3- Steps to Fix/Unbrick Dead Phone (Mtk Android/Nokia Java)

Now, after getting clues why phone has been dead. we will now proceed further to fix/Unbrick Mtk Android phone and Nokia Java/Symbion phones.

a- MTK (MediaTek) Android Phone

Tools & Software Required:

  1. SP Flash tool
  2. Android Stock ROM 
  3. MTK USB Driver (Steps to installation)
  4. PC or Laptop
  5. Dead MTK Phone
  6. USB cable

Steps to Fix/Unbrick Dead Android (MTK) Phone

***Your PC should be running on 32 bit irrespective of Window version.

SP Flash tool has 4 Dropdown, Its meaning & How to use:

a- MOTA SIU : while choosing this function before clicking on Download, only boot, recovery and Android will be updated.

b- Format All + Download : while choosing this function before clicking on Download, it first erases the old Firmware then install new firmware. (Recommended when MTK phone stuck at logo & hard reset fails)

c- Firmware Upgrade: while choosing this function before clicking on Download, its update the Android version. (Recommended when installing a higher or lower version of Android manually)

1- Install MTK driver.

2- Download the tool.

3- Unzip it and double click on Flash_tool.exe.

4- It will launch the tool.

5- Download Android stock ROM, unzip it.

6- Click on Scatter-Loading and assign the path of file (Select Firmware i.e. {.txt extension}).

7- Click on Download.

8- Switch off Mobile and connect it to PC using USB cable by pressing Volume down as boot key.

9- Flashing starts and when completed, Download OK will appear.

 

b- Nokia Dead Phone (Java/Symbion)

Tools & Software Required:

  1. Phoenix Tool (Disable anti virus while installing)
  2. Nokia Stock ROM 
  3. Nokia PC Suite
  4. PC or Laptop
  5. Dead Nokia Phone
  6. USB cable

Steps to Fix/Unbrick Dead Nokia Phone (Coming soon)

***Your PC should be running on 32 bit irrespective of Window version.

1- Install Nokia PC Suite.

2- Run Phoenix tool, after installation tool interface will appear like this.

3- Click on Tools–>Data Package download.

4- Download the Nokia Firmware .

5- After installation, Check path where Firmware has to be placed. (C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products)

6- Now, Make a Folder of the Model no which you are trying to flash.

7- Now, Place the firmware in RM-596 folder.

8- Click on File–> Open product.

9- In type Filter, enter the model no.

10- Click on Ok.

11- Click on Flashing–>Firmware Update. It will open Firmware Update Box, Click on Product code browse button (…) and One pop up will appear. Select the product code and click on Ok.

12- Select “Dead Phone USB Flashing”, which is in the Firmware Update box.

13- Click on Refurbish button, pop up will appear with installation instruction.

14- Switch off phone and connect it to PC using USB cable and Follow the instruction as in pop up.

15- Flashing starts and when completed Phoenix tool will notify, phone will reboot once after completion of flashing.

***In some cases Mobile will start charging as soon as connected to PC via. USB, to avoid this unplug battery and connect phone to PC without battery, as soon as the flashing starts connect the battery.

Flash Samsung Android using Odin tool

Summary: Detailed description about how to Flash Samsung Android mobile and Tablets using Odin tools.

How Flashing help:
1- If your Samsung gadgets has been stuck at Android or Samsung Logo and Hard Reset (Power + Volume up + Menu) fails.
2- If Application are installing of its own.
3- When you had forget the Password/Pattern.
4- If you are trying to unroot or rooting fails.
5- After installing Custom ROM on Samsung gadgets, if performance suffers.

Software & Tools needed:
1- Installation of USB driver on PC.
2- Latest Odin tool
3- Samsung Flash File download.

***Samsung Android device must be atleast 30 percent charge.
***It will cost data.

How to Flash Samsung Mobiles & Tablets:

1- To make communication between Odin tool & Samsung Mobile, you have to install driver.

2- Download Samsung Flash File and unzip it. (Flash file extension: .tar.md5)

3- Enable USB debugging. (Setting > Developer option > USB debugging)

4- Switch off your Android device.

5- Now, switch on the mobile by pressing (Power+Volume down+Menu). Phone will boot in Download mode.

6- Now, Press Volume up to enter download mode.

7- Unzip the Odin tool and run Odin tool. (.exe application)

8- Odin tool will be launched.

9- Now, Connect your Samsung Mobile to the PC using USB cable. (Message box on tool will display Added, if you had installed driver)

10- Now, Click on PDA (or AP in other version) and assign the path of Flash file.

11- Click on start to initiate flashing.

12- After flashing is completed, if your Samsung Mobile or Tablet stuck at Logo.

13- Then you had to reset the device once.

Track Lost / Stolen Android Tablets

If your Android Tablet has been lost or stolen, you can track it even if you haven’t installed any anti theft or tracking app. There are lot of website which are asking for the registration and to submit your Tablet IMEI, actual advantage of submitting IMEI is that you can get the location of your device, even if it has been stolen. Just you have to visit website and enter the IMEI of your Tablet.

Few of the steps to track the tablet are :

1- How Google is helping you back in tracking Android Tablet?
When you purchase an Android Tablet, it asks for Google account. The utmost advantage of connecting your Tablet with your Gmail account constitutes a term called Android Device Manager. If your Tablet has Internet connection it will track your tablet and it does not need any additional Application to be installed.

Just Login to ADM and when the login credential is accepted it will track your tablet of its own. If you have registered more than one android device, just choose the device  which has been lost from the list.

Prerequisite to Android Device Manager:-

  • Your Tablet must be registered to Google account (i.e. Gmail Account).
  • Tablet should have Internet connection.
  • Allow Android Device Manager to locate your device.
  • Allow ADM to lock your device and erase its data which is in Setting-> Security->Device Administration.
  • Your Tablet GPS and Access to Location feature should be turned on.

Google has been renowned for its creativity and it had integrated ADM with search engine. By simply searching at Google for Find My Phone, it will locate your tablet on Google Map. You can also ring your phone directly from the button to the left of map.

***Your PC must be connected to your Google account, to use “Find My Phone” keyword to display the results.

Though, advantage to access your phone with ADM is that you have more option other than Ring. You have access to erase data of your tablet and you can lock and reset the password of your Android Slate.

In case your Tablet is stolen and you have another Android device either of your friend or relative, just install ADM App. From Google play store. Login as a guest and track your device.

Limitation of ADM:-

  • If your stolen tablet has been hard reset or soft reset by user then it cannot track your phone, even if it is connected to Internet.
  • Internet is must me connected to use the features of ADM.

2- Remote Control & Track your Tablet with Android Lost
Android Lost is an app to track your lost Android tablet. Basically it had to be installed on tablet and the installation process in tablet varies from phones.

Prior to installation of Android Lost, you have to install AndroidLost Jumpstart. As it initiate the registration process when AndroidLost is installed.

Sign In to Android Lost Website using your Google account. After login you will be able to access features like:-

  • SMS Tracking
  • Play an Alarm with flashing screen.
  • Track location of your device.
  • Change Password.
  • Wipe Data.
  • Use Camera to capture snapshot of person carrying your tablet.

Prerequisite:-

  • Your Device must be connected to Google account
  • Internet Connection

3- Use TimeLine to Track your Lost Android Tablet
Prerequisite:-

  • Your Device must be connected to Google account.
  • Internet Connection.
  • Location Reporting & Location History needs to be activated on Tablet.

Timeline feature of Google Maps does not track the lost tablet. It records the location history where you had been travelled over the past days. It can be helpful to track down your lost android tablet by checking the location history.

Just Go to Timeline and select the date which you wish to track on the left side of screen. It will display the history of location you had travelled. While, on the right location is visualized on Google Maps.

To track location, Timeline uses cell tower IDs and Wi-Fi location to collect location data.

Highlight features through which it is considered vital point to be enlisted in tracking of lost android tablet is that if the person who had stolen your tablet has visited their home or office. This will help you to locate the thief.

4- Register your Samsung Tablet to Track
Prerequisite:-

  • Tablet must be connected to Internet.
  • Device must be registered with Samsung account.
  • Find My Mobile must be setup on Samsung Tablet.

Samsung has launched its own tracking services termed Find My Mobile. It’s free of cost and you just have to create Samsung account and register your tablet through it.

If you want to test the position then just login to Find My Mobile. Check the left panel it will display the list of registered Tablets. To track down tablet device must be online & Remote controls should be enabled. Now, check Locate my device and select locate button. It will display approximate location.

With the help of Find My Mobile you have more powerful control like: – Lock the screen, Wipe Data and Unlock Screen of Tablet.

5- Dropbox can bring your lost Android Tablet
Prerequisite:-

  • Tablet must be connected to internet.
  • Activate Camera Upload in Dropbox app.
  • Just wait until thief capture Selfie.

Dropbox is the last resort to have your tablet back. Just you have to install Dropbox App. in your tablet and enable Camera Upload feature. As a result of it, if anyone captures any image with the tablet it will directly uploaded to the Camera upload folder of dropbox.

With the background images you can get an idea of its location and with the help of Social Networking websites you have the option to find that people.

Hard Reset Allwinner Tablet PC

If you are having tablet PC powered by Allwinner processor and you have forget the pattern or password of your  Android tablet. Then hard reset by key combination does not work on Allwinner Tablet, you can reset the password using Android multi tool.

Though, Hard Reset is ultimate solution for:-

1- Hang on logo
2- Forget pattern
3- Tablet is slow

Tools & Software required:-

  • PC
  • USB Driver :- Steps to install driver
  • Android Multi Tool :- Download

Most of the time, Tablet PC is not detected by PC. As, try another USB wire and check steps to install driver.

Hard Reset Rockchip Android Tablet PC By Tool

Forget Pattern of your Rockchip Android Tablet & does not remember the Gmail Login Credential. If your tablet is powered by Rockchip processor then it can be hard reset using Android tool. .

Tools & Software required:-

  • Rockchip Android Tool & Driver:-
  • USB wire
  • PC

Steps to Reset password:-

  1. Download the Tool and install the driver included in Download package
  2. Switch off the Tablet
  3. Connect the Tablet to PC using USB cable
  4. While connecting Tablet to PC press and Hold Power and Volume up to recognize the tablet by PC (If your tablet Does not get recognized, Try Volume Down & Power key)
  5. Select misc.img and uncheck the loader
  6. rockchip android tool
    Uncheck “Loader” option and select “misc”
  7. Select misc.img path, packed in downloaded folder
  8. Click on Run
  9. When you click on run process, the tablet will restart
  10. Now, tab will reset and free from pattern lock

Android Tablet Not Turning ON : 15 Reasons & Solution

If your Android tab is not powering / switching on. Then there might be the no of reasons for this. In most of the cases simple DIY method can bring the tab back to life. If the tab has some hardware fault then it can be fixed in repair center only.

Here we are going to state possible reasons which can help you in turning your Android device On.

1- Remove the Battery
It is possible that your Android device may get stuck in power off mode. This situation arise because the Android device get basically frozen.

Solution : Remove the battery from the Android device, wait for a moment, and reinsert the battery and then press Power Key. It remove all power from the Android device and termed as Power Cycle.

 2-  Long press the power button
Long press the power button upto 45 seconds in order to remove all power from the Android device. This might turn your Android device ON. If not proceed to the next step.

3- Charge the Battery
One possible reason if your device is not switching ON from the above steps, might be your device is out of charge.

Solution : First connect it to charger and wait for 5 minutes and then try to switch on the mobile.

4- Perform a Factory reset from Recovery mode
If your device get ON and if it get freeze or boot process fail or it immediately switch off. Then, there may be software problem. In such case holding power button for long time may not work. As, these methods are used when the device does not respond at all.

Solution : This method cost your data. If you have memory card in your device remove it. Otherwise, it will erase all data from it and the device will be set to its default state.
Every Device has different key combination for Factory reset. See different key combination option here or search in Google for the combination. After entering in recovery mode, press wipe data to reset it.

5- Sleep of Death

In this state the device automatically goes to the sleep mode and fails to wake up. In order to recover from this problem we have to use Trial-and-error approach which determine which process works or not.

Solution : The possible solution is to put the device in charging and then press the power button.

6- May be Due to Dust
One possible reason if you are holding power button and it does not work. Maybe it’s time to open the device and clean it up with brush or thinner. After cleaning put it for charging and then press Power key for start. Check the cleaning process in below video.

 7- Power button Broken
In this case you can put your device in charging and then press Volume down button. It will start your device but all the time during starting you have to perform the same operation.

Solution : Go for its replacement for ease of yours.

8- Re-inserting the SIM
One possible solution can be if you take out your Sim card and boot the Device and switch it off and then insert the Sim card. In few cases this method works.

9- Due to carbon
Due to moist in rainy and winter season the carbon occurs very frequently, specially on the connecting jack, i.e. battery connector, Mic connector, speaker connector etc

Solution :  Clean the power jack as shown in above video.

10- Dry soldering
If the tablet is kept for long time and not in use. Then in that case the IC’s or the essential chips, which is attached with the board or the PCB with soldering gets dried.

Solution : Resold the dried part in order to work properly.

11- Corrupt OS
The OS may be corrupted which won’t let the tab switch on.

Solution : See the OS installation method.

12- Faulty charger
If the charger is not supplying the proper or prescribed voltage and amp.

13- Damaged charging connector
The charging of the tablet may be damaged or loose.

Solution : Remove the power jack.

14- Loose Connection
The terminal connecting PCB and Battery wire may be loose, in order to recover check the connecting terminal.

15- Charger Connector Point
Maybe, the Gold plated wire inside the connector point has been misplaced. To sort out, use brush to adjust its position.
